At Southern Digital our business is SERVICE! It is our goal to help you our customer in any way we can to make your hobby as enjoyable and as much fun as possible. One of the ways you have made us successful is giving us the opportunity to assist you in many ways converting your Model Railroad to Command Control System.
Below you will find additional services that we can provide to you that may assist you in getting your Railroad up and running faster.
A few tips when sending your locomotives for service
  1. Be sure and pack your locomotives in a sturdy box, no shoe boxes.
  2. Include a note detailing the work you would like completed, if you have a DCC decoder preference also include that.
  3. Use plenty of packing material to protect your locomotive(s) during shipment.
  4. Insure your package for the full replacement value.
  5. Send your package to:

Price

Decoder Installation for most N-Scale and HO Locomotives

This service includes:

bulletLocomotive Disassembly
bulletRunning gear lubrication
bullet Decoder Installation
bulletLocomotive Re-assembly
bulletFront & Rear Headlamp wired to decoder.
bulletTested
bulletDecoder programmed to desired decoder address.

(Most HO Locomotives do not require frame modification)

(Most N-Scale Locomotives can be fit with a Dig Frame Kits for an additional charge)

$45 per hr.
Soundtraxx Decoder Installation (On average it takes 2 to 3 hours to install the Decoder, Speaker and Cam kit. Time will vary depending on the locomotive and scale.) $45 per hr.
Locomotive Repair (Labor only, parts extra) $45 per hr.
Additional Function hookups (F1 - F8) (This does not include lamp) $9 ea.
Custom Machining $45 per hr
Custom Painting of locomotives or rolling stock.  This includes:
bulletDisassembly
bulletExisting paint stripped.
bulletThorough cleaning in ultrasonic sink.
bulletPrime and paint.
bullet(Brass models a baked finish)
bulletDecal application if desired.
bulletWeathering if desired.
bulletDCC conversion if required
bulletReassembly, lubricated and test run.

Warranty: We are proud of the work we do, we warranty our decoder installation work for 30 days. (If the locomotive shell is removed within the 30 days the warranty is null and void)     

 
Live Steam Repairs and conversions. Price
R/C Conversion: Converting your existing locomotive to Radio Control with a DX-6 radio.  This conversion includes the following;
bulletMount 1 Throttle Servo. ($50 for each additional servo mounting)
bulletMount radio receiver, battery pack .
bulletInstall all necessary linkage and test.

$250

Working Lights: Convert existing locomotive lamps with LEDs.  This conversion includes the following;
bulletAll lamps to be illuminated must be hollow with lenses.
bulletInstall either a Golden White or Bright White LED in each lamp (up to 3 lamps, head light, 2 marker lights).
bulletInstall AA or AAA battery box with on/off switch.

(Golden White LED appears like an incandescent lamp, NO Blue

Live Steam Locomotive Tuning:  Tune and adjust valves for smooth operations

$45 per hr.

Live Steam Repairs:

$45 per hr.
