A Booster is a device that adds constant power to your railroad at
a voltage set by the user. Most boosters will have a switch so you can set the
voltage for the scale your railroad requires. The booster does not control your
trains like a traditional power pack does, it works with a "Command Station".
The Command Station will send messages to the booster, the booster will pass the messages
to the track with the power. Both the power and messages will arrive at the locomotive
decoder. The Command Station tells the decoder the quantity of voltage and current to use
to move the locomotive.
All of the Digitrax Boosters are three devices in one, a Command
Station, Power Booster and a Programming Unit. By incorporating all three devices in
one unit allows Digitrax to keep the cost of these devices low.
Any of Digitrax Command Station/Boosters can be used for additional
power for your railroad when required. Digitrax makes Command Stations/Boosters that will
deliver 5.25 amps and 8 amps. All Starter sets are equipped with 5.25 amp Command
Station/Boosters.
